Victorian Dinosaurs

This is something i havent drawn to often, the three first species of dinosaurs that gave name to the word Dinosauria. This is how the scientists of the victorian england belived how dinosaurs looked like. They didnt have much remains to work from, only that they came from giant reptiles. So the logic idea was that dinsoaurs must have looked like giant lizards but active and even warmblooded.

When i was a kid. i didnt like these depictions but now as im getting older, i have come to appreciate retro paleoart even more. And these are very important in our understanding of dinosaurs. These dinosaurs can be found as statues in Londons Chrystal Palace park but im sure most of you know this. Imagine the feeling when the visitors first saw these back in 1854. It was publics first real exposion to dinosaurs. The magic has yet to disappear......
